Kristen Remondi, Interior Designer

As a child I had a passion for all things aesthetic and related to the creative process; I spent hours drawing, building in my father’s workshop, cooking, and sewing, and I appreciated beautiful spaces, whether indoors or out. I loved color, form, pattern, and texture.  When I was a young adult, I changed course and followed more academic interests; I attended Tufts University, graduating with a BA in economics. Quickly realizing that a corporate job would not be a fit, I enrolled at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and received an M. Ed. in elementary education. I taught fifth grade and enjoyed the creativity that used to be a big part of teaching, along with the lively interaction with my students. I then chose to stay home and raise my three sons while my husband started a technology company.

While home with the boys, my need for creative expression took on different forms. I took many art classes at the deCordova Museum School and through Brookline Adult Education and continued teaching part-time. I taught hands-on, after-school programs in the many subjects that interested my kids, volunteered in their classes, and taught English as a Second Language to new adult immigrants. During these years, I also undertook the interior design and space planning of several major home renovations. It was so satisfying to create spaces for our family that suited our active lifestyle; the renovations made our homes both more functional and more beautiful.

When our youngest son entered middle school, I went back to school and earned a certificate in Residential Interiors at Boston Architectural College. I now enjoy working with clients to design spaces for them which are functional, interesting and reflective of their color, pattern, and design preferences. I use my communication and organizational skills to make the design/renovation process go as smoothly as possible, and I work within their budgets. I want their homes to reflect their lifestyles and to be places where they can relax, connect, laugh, and feel inspired; I want them to find joy in the rooms I design. My interest in all things related to home and beauty have come full circle.
